Tracing History, Weaving Meaning: Global Bridge Academy’s CARe Journey through Kota Tua

Global Bridge Academy (GBA) recently held a collaborative Learning Tour with Jakarta Good Guide to explore the historical richness of Jakarta's Old Town (Kota Tua) firsthand. Starting from Kota Station at 3 PM, participants embarked on a walking tour to retrace the steps of the past through the grand architecture of colonial buildings, the history of banking, the iconic Toko Merah, and the stories behind legendary cannons. This journey served as more than just a sightseeing trip; it was a practical application of the CARe (Communication, Action, and Respect) curriculum, where students sharpened their communication and language skills while fostering deep respect for national heritage through immersive field experience. The activity, which concluded at 5 PM, reached its highlight at Acaraki, where participants learned the art of crafting traditional jamu as a form of appreciation for local wisdom. By integrating language learning including English and Japanese with historical observation, this program successfully embodied the Action pillar that defines GBA. Through understanding the narratives behind each building and the process of making traditional herbal drinks, students are expected to become globally competitive individuals who remain deeply rooted in their cultural heritage and maintain a high level of social awareness.
