Learn Japanese at Your Own Pace through GBA One-Year Regular Programme

At Global Bridge Academy (GBA), education focuses not only on academic achievement, but also on character development, practical skills and the ability to connect with diverse cultures. Inspired by the Japanese value of ‘Omoiyari’ – respect, empathy and understanding – GBA delivers the CARe (Communication, Action and Respect) Curriculum through various learning programmes, one of which is the 1-Year Intensive Programme that combines character development and skills to build a peaceful and harmonious life on a global scale. One of the experiences participants enjoy in this programme is through the Japanese language classes. Over the course of approximately three months, participants learnt the basics of the Japanese language, ranging from the Hiragana and Katakana scripts, pronunciation, numbers, to vocabulary relating to the family. Amongst these topics, learning the names of family members proved to be one of the most popular and memorable subjects. The enthusiasm for attending the classes also stemmed from a desire to try something new and to learn the Japanese language and culture. During the learning process, the challenge was remembering the material that had already been covered, which meant that regular revision was necessary. However, this experience actually taught me the importance of consistency in learning. What left the deepest impression whilst attending classes at GBA was the comfortable and non-demanding learning atmosphere. With a relaxed and supportive approach to learning, participants felt more at ease to learn, experiment and develop at their own pace.
